We received an update for Ren today!!!! Oh joy!!! We have been looking at our 3 little pictures and reading and rereading information from last September, wondering how he has changed. So the call I received from my agency this morning was very welcome. It helps us add another piece to the puzzle, to see a little more of the picture. He has grown since September...., well I know this is a silly statement seeing how this was 9 months ago. This is my son who I have felt entitled to since receiving our preapproval from China. The little bits and pieces, clues as to who and how he is are priceless at this point. I madly dashed down all the information given to me over the phone making sure I didn't leave anything out. I stared at my chicken scrawl with all the wonder of a new mom looking at a fuzzy sonogram picture, trying to get a idea of who this little person is. This little guy who will soon be running around my house and heart, and part of our forever family.
The picture above is a old picture from September 2007
Ren is now 33 months old and is 36 inches tall and weighs 27.6 pounds. For those of you that know Eden, she is 5 years old and weighs 30 pounds! I think he is in the 75th percentile for Chinese boys for height and weight. He can walk, run and jump with both feet off the ground. He can stand on one foot for 5 seconds. He loves playing ball, table games and building blocks. He has very nimble fingers and can pick up very small objects with chopsticks :-D. He can wash his hands, feed himself and help clean the table up. He can dress and undress himself . He also is speaking very simple sentences like "I want a drink of water" , "I need to pee" ( yeah! LOL) and "I want a piece of candy".
His report goes on to say he can dance, is sensitive to music rhythm, and can sing songs. He knows red and green, big and small, and left and right!
As far as his personality goes it gives indications that he is very shy and does not like strangers. The girls that gathered this information said that he "cried very badly and wanted nothing to do with them and tried to hit them" (YIKES). Hmmm I can see bribes might be in order here, I am thinking chocolate. I know now that one of the best things we did was to send him pictures of ourselves! At least we will be familiar strangers! I can't wait to go get him and squeeze him to pieces. Note to self: buy M&M's, Life Savers, Hot Wheel cars, Lolli Pops, Cheerios......
